Dear Fellow Homeowners,
On behalf of the new Board of Directors (BOD), I would like to extend warm greetings to all of the residents of The Oaks at Hobe Sound! A special thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s elections and to the previous Board for their service to our community. As Board members, we are representing you. It is a valuable and rewarding experience to have the opportunity to serve you, while maintaining a strong sense of community relations and protecting the value of our homes and association owned assets. Please understand that the Board and Committee members are volunteers serving the residents of our community. We dedicate our time and energy to improve this beautiful community to the best of our ability.
To start the year, we have adopted a community mission statement. This will help communicate & clarify our purpose, while serving as the ‘driving force’ in everything our community sets out to accomplish. This mission statement has been included in March 2015 mailing.
One of our primary goals this year is to improve communication within our community not just between the Board members and the HOA, but between every resident. This Board believes in keeping residents informed of the state of affairs. That being said, we have established a communications liaison and will use this new website as a tool for residents to stay informed and keep up-to-date on changes in the community.
Our finances are getting stronger, with over $60K in our reserves and over $108K in operating funds. This comfortable position is mainly due to the responsible way in which our homeowners are paying the HOA dues. Total delinquencies have decreased considerably in the last year, and thanks to our attorney's and past BOD regime, we have been able to collect on over ½ of the bad debt. We will continue to build our reserves and reduce our bad debt in 2015.
Committee activity is thriving thanks to our neighbors that generously contribute their efforts for the betterment of our community. We urge everyone to consider volunteering to one of the committees; it is fun, rewarding and is aimed as an opportunity for members to give back to their community.
We are always striving to improve the beauty and safety of the community in every way possible, and this starts with our community members. Please do your part and ensure your home is well maintained based on the latest maintenance obligations outlined in the homeowner documents, and help protect our children, bikers, and walkers by restricting your vehicle speed to 15 mph (the slower the better) or less. If you have any suggestions that will further improve the beautification or safety of our community, we would like to hear from you.
We are looking forward to the upcoming year with refreshing energy directed towards a fun and family-oriented community. We can make the best of 2015 together, as a community.
